The following Computer Adaptive Instruction (CAI) programs have been approved for Connecting Waters Charter School’s Response to Instruction (RtI) Program for Intensive Instructional Support for struggling students scoring at or below the 25th percentile in Reading and/or Math foundational skills as assessed by AIMSweb.   

 

Effectiveness:  All of the below programs are proven to be effective based on Scientific Research, IF the program is used with fidelity, the way the program was intended to be used.  

 

Content:  All programs are universally designed to target students who need extra support in foundational skills.  All of the below programs provide the same content, but some users may have personal preference over the design of the program components.  

 

Usage Requirements:  All programs require a minimum of 3-5 days per week for 30-40 minutes per day for maximum success.

 

Cost and Ordering Information:  All of the below programs are free, with adequate program use, and may be ordered through your ES via the OML enrollment windows that are available throughout the school year.

 

Programs At-A-Glance with Demo/Sample Lessons

 

Ascend Math - Math: 3-12 (content is through grade 8)

  • Demo/Sample Lessons:  
    • Student Walkthrough  
    • Student Experience
    • Click "start lesson" then check out each of the 5 parts of a lesson on the top.
    • Following the lesson pre-test, each lesson requires the printing of a Study Guide to use for note taking while watching the lesson video.  There are also “explore” and “practice” components and a lesson post-test.  Each lesson video is presented by an actual teacher.

 

i-Ready Reading & Math - Math: K-12 (content is through grade 8), Reading:  K-12

  • Demo/Sample Lessons
    • Scroll all the way to the bottom of this link to get to grade 3 and 6 math lessons and grade 1 and 4 reading lessons.
    • Following completion of the diagnostic assessments, a lesson pathway is created for students to follow.

 

Let’s Go Learn Reading & Math - Math: K-12th (content is through grade 8), Reading: 2nd - 12th

  • Demo/Sample Lessons:
    • Math:  4th grade sample - Math Demo/Sample Lessons
    • Reading Edge: Reading Demo/Sample Lessons
    • On each link above you will need to select "sample lesson".  You can then manipulate between the lessons.
    • Following completion of the ADAM (math) and DORA (reading) diagnostic assessments, ESs enroll students in the recommended Edge products based on the assessment information. Students follow the lesson path in each of the Edge programs for Reading and/or Math.

Ascend Math

1. Diagnoses students skill gaps based on your state standards and common core standards.

2. Prescribes individual learning paths regardless of grade level automatically. Students work only on the objectives they do not know.

  • Students follow the same sequence (study guide, video, explore, practice, post assessment) for each objective.

  • Students can pause, rewind, and watch as many times as needed.

 

i-Ready Reading & Math

Built for the Common Core, i-Ready combines a valid and reliable growth measure and individualized instruction in a single online product. Diverse student groups—from those who need the highest levels of intervention to those who need very little intervention beyond regular classroom instruction—experience success with i-Ready because it is truly adaptive to learners at all levels of development and because the structure of the program supports different types of learners.

Adaptive Diagnostic

  • The adaptive Diagnostic gets to the root causes of student challenges and tailors appropriate, specific differentiated instruction for all.
  • Data from the adaptive Diagnostic informs and places students into the appropriate RTI tiers.

Easy-to-read Student Reports

  • Reports identify instructional gaps and provide clear, concise, and immediate next steps in order to increase student gains.

Powerful Student Online and Flexible Teacher-Led Instruction

  • Online lessons automatically place students into instruction at their level based on the results from the Diagnostic. This provides targeted instruction prioritizing the highest areas of need.

LGL Reading Edge is a web-based, differentiated learning course focusing on decoding and other basic reading skills.  Pop-cultured themed materials engage students as they learn in areas targeted by the built in diagnostic assessment.

LGL Math Edge is the perfect accompaniment to ADAM K-7, our diagnostic math assessment.  Data from the 44 sub-tests in ADAM K-7 are used to prescribe one of five LGL Math Edge online course levels 2-6.  Students enter the appropriate level of instruction based on their strengths and weaknesses.  With Let’s Go Learn, every learning event is customized to a student’s needs!
